Making her second start after a runner-up finish here in her debut, CHAMPAGNE ROOM defeated winners and stakes horses to take the $200,000 Sorrento S.-G2 by 1 1/4 lengths. The 2-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW raced up close, was three wide heading into the stretch then put in a sustained drive to the wire to get the win going 6 1/2 furlongs at Del Mar. CHAMPAGNE ROOM was a $310,000 OBS April purchase by Joseph Ciaglia, Jr., who races her in a partnership. She worked a swift :20 4/5 prior to the sale. “She’s a big, strong filly.
