2YO Maiden Winners at Laurel and Ellis Today

After a runner-up finish in her debut, BYE BYE BERTIE made the most of her second start and went wire-to-wire to win a six-furlong Maiden Special Weight on the main track at Laurel by an impressive 5 1/2 lengths. The newest 2-year-old winner from the second crop of ALTERNATION broke on top. She was moving easily on the lead, felt a little pressure on the turn, but soon began to pull away near the top of the stretch and widened her advantage through the lane to get the victory. The fifth 2-year-old winner from the second crop of ALTERNATION was more than nine lengths off the lead after the first half, but fanned seven wide on the far turn, he continued to close in on the leaders and ran by them in midstretch and got the win.
