3YO VOW TO RECOVER Rallies to Miss a Neck in Gulfstream’s Sanibel Island

A stakes winner last year in her third start as a juvenile, VOW TO RECOVER closed in on the frontrunner down the stretch but had to finish for the runner-up spot, just a neck back in the $125,000 Sanibel Island S. on the Florida Derby undercard. Racing a mile on the turf at Gulfstream, the 3-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW tracked in third just behind the leaders most of the way no more than two lengths off the lead. She moved off the rail near the eighth pole to race just outside the leader, and was closing in a hurry on that one but just came up short, looking more like just a head back in the photo finish. VOW TO RECOVER won the Juvenile Fillies Turf S. (pictured) in her third  start after taking a Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Park West. She also placed in the Wait a While S. in December to next out Sweetest Chant S.-G3 winner A Bit Special (GB). Lifetime record: 6-2-1-1-, $109,130. O-Imaginary Stables and Paul Braverman.
