ALTER MOON Much the Best in Gulfstream’s Azalea

Coming off a more than 14-length victory here last time out, ALTER MOON took over on the turn and pulled away through the stretch to win Gulfstream Park’s $75,000 Azalea S. by five lengths. The 3-year-old filly from the first crop of ALTERNATION broke from the inside post and hustled up to stay close to the front two early. She began to move up going into the turn, seized the lead before they reached the top of the stretch and pulled away to be wrapped up near the wire. This was the third win for ALTER MOON, all in 2018, who finished runner-up here in April in the Game Face S., but turned the tables on that winner in the Azalea. She was a $55,000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October 2016 Fall Yearling Sales purchase. Lifetime record: 7-3-2-0, $128,255. O-JAL Racing. B-C. Hunter Hager and E. Claire Hager. T-Jose Velez.
