ALTERNATION Closes Year Among Top Second-Crop Sires

At the end of 2018, ALTERNATION finished as the Co-Leading Second-Crop Kentucky Sire with two Graded stakes winners and Co-Second-Leading Sire with FIVE Blacktype winners. Among them were Graded winners SERENGETI EMPRESS, a 2-year-old filly who won the Pocahontas S.-G2 by a recording-setting 19 1/2 lengths and the Ellis Park Debutante S. by 13 1/2 lengths, and LIMATION, a 3-year-old colt who won the $300,000 Super Derby-G3 by 5 3/4 lengths. ALTERNATION also ranked among the the top five sires with nine Blacktype horses. His top performers included 3-year-old filly ALTER MOON, winner of Gulfstream Park’s Azalea S. by five lengths and who sold for $675,000 at Fasig-Tipton Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale, and SUBSTITUTION, a 2-year-old colt who won the $94,000 Iowa Stallion Futurity in his second career start. Also among Second-Crop Kentucky Sires, ALTERNATION finished in the top 10 by number of 2-year-old winners with 10, and 2-year-old sales with an average of nearly $64,000.
