AMAPOLA Draws Away in Incredible Revenge S.
AMAPOLA won for the third time in her last four starts pulling away to win the Incredible Revenge S. by 5 1/2 lengths. The 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW was up close from the start in this 5 1/2-furlong, off-the-turf sprint, part of the MATCH Series, at Monmouth Park. She moved up to challenge for the lead on the turn, and it was over from there as she pulled away and was only under hand urging in the final furlong. It is reported by her trainer Arnaud Delacour that AMAPOLA is about four months pregnant and it may well be her last race. At two in her debut at Gulfstream, she crossed the wire in front by 9 3/4 lengths in track record time, only to be subsequently placed sixth for interference. She then finished runner-up the next two starts that season for new owners Lael Stables, then finished on the board in the G3 Matron S. to close out her juvenile season. AMAPOLA then went to the sidelines for the next 17 months. She started this season off with two runner-up finishes in Maiden Special Weights, then won her third start wire-to-to wire by 9 1/4 lengths, the first of her three victories in 2018. Lifetime record: 10-3-5-0, $159,580. O-Lael Stables. B-K & G Stables. T-Arnaud Delacour.
