BROKEN VOW’s GSW 3YO DIVINE OATH Beats Elders in W. L. McKnight-G3
DIVINE OATH won his third Graded stakes of the year defeating older horses in the W. L. McKnight H.-G3 at Gulfstream Park. Breaking from post 11 in this 13-horse field, the 3-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW raced just behind the leaders for the part of this 1 1/2-mile turf event. He began to move on the leaders around the far turn assuming command with a 1/4 mile to go and then dug in to get to the wire a 1/2 length in front of a four-time G1 winner. It was DIVINE OATH’s third Graded stakes win in his last five starts, all at different tracks and distances. The $200,000 Keeneland September 2012 sales purchase also won Delaware Park’s Kent S.-G3 at 1 1/8 miles on turf and the American Derby-G3 going 1 3/16 miles on Arlington Park’s turf, and also placed in two other Graded stakes. 2YO RAINHA DA BATERIA Close Runner-up in Jimmy Durante-G3
Graded stakes winner RAINHA DA BATERIA rallied through the stretch to finish runner-up, beaten just a neck, in Del Mar’s Jimmy Durante S.-G3. Making her fifth start of the year, the 2-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW faced ten rivals in this one test on the turf course. After a little bumping at the the break coming out of post two, RAINHA DA BATERIA chased the leaders for the first six furlongs, then swung four wide into the stretch and closed with earnest to the wire. Earlier in October, RAINHA DA BATERIA came from last to win Keeneland’s JPMorgan Chase Jessamine S.-G3 by 1 1/2 lengths. She was a debut winner at Saratoga in July. OUTSIDE NASHVILLE Puts in Strong Rally to Win Third Stakes
OUTSIDE NASHVILLE has now won stakes in each of his three racing seasons after a four-length victory in the Oakland S. at Golden Gate. In this six-furlong sprint on the all-weather surface, the 4-year-old son of BROKEN VOW was away a bit slowly but began to advance around the turn. Shifting out for the run down the stretch, OUTSIDE NASHVILLE put in a strong rally to win going away. The final time was a quick 1:08 3/5, just 2/5’s off the track record and earned a 103 Beyer. Last year, the versatile OUTSIDE NASHVILLE won the Robert Dupret Derby by 4 1/2 lengths going 1 1/16 miles on the turf, and in his last start as a 2-year-old, he was a four-length winner of the Golden Nugget S. G1 SW ROSALIND Sells for $1 Million at FT November
At the one-day Fasig-Tipton November Sale, G1 winner ROSALIND (by BROKEN VOW) sold for $1 million as a racing/broodmare prospect. The 3-year-old filly, who earlier this year won Keeneland’s Central Bank Ashland S.-G1 in a dead heat, was purchased by S F Bloodstock LLC. Bred by Hurstland Farm, Inc., James H. Greene Jr. & Pin Oak Stud out of Critics Acclaim, by Theatrical (Ire), ROSALIND raced for Landaluce Educe Stables and was consigned to the sale by Martha Jane Mulholland, agent, on their behalf. Last year ROSALIND was weighted third on the Experimental Free Handicap for Fillies on the basis of her strong placings in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies-G1 and the Alcibiades S.-G1, and an on-the-board performance in the Hollywood Starlet S.-G1.

GSW DIVINE OATH Places in Twilight Derby-G2 on BC Distaff Undercard
Multiple Graded Stakes winner DIVINE OATH rallied in the stretch to place in Santa Anita’s G2 Twilight Derby. Going 1 1/8 miles on the turf in one of two graded stakes on the Breeders’ Cup Distaff undercard, the 3-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW sat fourth but no more than 4 1/2 lengths off the lead in this field of 11. As they hit the top of the stretch, DIVINE OATH swung out for the drive to the wire, put in a strong rally between foes in the final furlong and finished only a 1/2 length off the win. DIVINE OATH was coming off two graded stakes victories in his last three starts, including Delaware Park’s Kent S.-G3 and Arlington Park’s American Derby-G3. Lifetime record: 8-4-1-1, $359,850. 2YO SEBASTIAN’S HEART Runner-up in Santa Anita’s Speakeasy
Coming off a maiden win here just 10 days earlier, SEBASTIAN’S HEART closed to finish runner-up in the $100,000 Speakeasy S. at Santa Anita. In this six-furlong sprint on the main track in a field of nine, the 2-year-old son of BROKEN VOW stalked the early pace along the inside, angled out for his rallying stretch drive and finished with energy, nearly two lengths in front of the third place horse. BROKEN VOW’s 2YO RAINHA DA BATERIA Takes G3 Jessamine S.
Making her third start with a Saratoga maiden score under her belt, RAINHA DA BATERIA came from last to first to win Keeneland’s JPMorgan Chase Jessamine S.-G3 by 1 1/2 lengths. This “Win And You’re In” qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf-G1 on October 31 looked to be a challenge for this 2-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW. RAINHA DA BATERIA was 14 lengths back of the leader after the first half but jockey Joel Rosario got her moving forward around the final turn. She swung out six wide entering the stretch while circling the field and charged down the lane to overtake the leader and win going away. The $435,000 Keeneland 2013 September sales purchase won her debut taking a 5 1/2-furlong Maiden Special Weight on the turf at Saratoga in July. In her second start, this filly out of Amelia, by Dixieland Band, had an on-the-board finish in Saratoga’s P. G. Johnson S. after a wide early trip. Lifetime record: 3-2-0-0, $144,800. 2YO Maiden Winners at Keeneland and Santa Anita
AMBIDEXTROUS ALEX took control at the top of the stretch and edged clear to win this six-furlong Maiden Special weight on Keeneland’s new main dirt track by 1 1/4 lengths in his second career start. The son of BROKEN VOW broke from post nine in a 10-horse field and prompted the pace from the start just a head back in second. SEBASTIAN’S HEART rallied to win his second start taking this six-furlong test at Santa Anita in 1:09 1/5. This son of BROKEN VOW stalked the frontrunners only a length back until taking the lead in the stretch by 2 1/2 lengths and held the lead to the wire for a 1/2-length score. 3YO DIVINE OATH Wins Kent S.-G3 for Second Graded Score
DIVINE OATH won his second Graded stakes in the last three starts taking Delaware Park’s Kent S.-G3 by 3/4 length. Racing 1 1/8 miles on the turf, the 3-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW raced in close proximity of the leaders until they hit the top of the stretch where he slipped through and opening along the rail and finished with a strong drive to get the win. He recorded his four win in seven starts which includes a win in the $200,000 American Derby-G3. JANIS’S JOY Places in Churchill’s Open Mind S.
The versatile JANIS’S JOY put in a good account of herself to place in Churchill Down’s six-furlong Open Mind S. on the main track. The daughter of BROKEN VOW stalked the pace early on, went five wide on the turn, continued her rally to challenge the leader in midstretch and ran on to the wire. This was her second consecutive stakes placing in as many tries. Last out, she finished less than a length back in a runner-up effort in the Hoist the Flag S. at Canterbury. JANIS’S JOY has won on dirt, turf and all-weather surfaces, including her Keeneland allowance win last October where she went wire-to-wire to win going six furlongs on the main track. NASHLY’S VOW Close Runner-up in Laurel’s $100,000 All Brandy S.
NASHLY’S VOW gave BROKEN VOW his 24th stakes horse of the year with her narrow runner-up finish in the $100,000 All Brandy S. Racing 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Laurel Park, NASHLY’S VOW broke well to grab the lead early. She maintained a nearly two-length lead going into the final turn. NASHLY’S VOW was joined around the turn by another, but turned back that challenger and opened up a two-length lead in mid-stretch only to be caught at the wire finishing just a neck back of the win. Making her first start on turf after placing on dirt at Churchill and Pimlico, MERCER MILL MAE led at every call to win this $90,000 Maiden Special Weight by 3/4 length at Kentucky Downs. Showing good speed out of the gate in the six-furlong test, the 2-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW sprinted away to be four lengths in front after the first half. Kept to the task, she remained in front to the wire. One race back, MERCER MILL MAE finished on the board at Saratoga, and in her career debut, she placed behind a next out stakes winner on the dirt at Pimlico. Lifetime record: 4-1-1-1, $70,000. Coming off a runner-up finish in the Clement L. Hirsch S.-G1, BROKEN SWORD powered away to the early lead and was never threatened on her way to a 5 1/4-length win in Del Mar’s Tranquility Lake S. Going a mile on the all-weather main track, the 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW began to open her lead on the far turn, was seven lengths in front at the top of the stretch and was geared down late to the wire. On the Arlington Million undercard, ANNULMENT rallied for her first stakes win taking the Hatoof S. by a nose. The 3-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW raced in fourth for the first half mile in this about 1 1/1/6 miles turf event. She began to close on the leaders around the far turn, then put in a sustained drive down the lane to be first to the wire. GSW BROKEN SWORD Impressive in Runner-up Effort in G1 Clement L. Hirsch
Making her first start since January, Grade 2 winner BROKEN SWORD nearly wired the field in her close runner-up finish in Del Mar’s Clement L. Hirsch S.-G1. The very sharp 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW had put in seven out of nine bullet works leading up to this race. BROKEN SWORD jumped out to take the lead and set a moderate pace in this 1 1/16-mile all-weather test. She was challenged by the eventual winner in mid-stretch but continued to battle courageously with that one to the wire finishing just 1/2 length back of the win. Runner-up last time out going a mile on the turf here at Woodbine, ATTAINMENT took advantage of an extra sixteenth and scored a 1 3/4-length win in this Maiden Special Weight. Stalking the pace never more than two lengths off the lead, the 3-year-old homebred filly by BROKEN VOW angled out at the top of the stretch, caught the leaders by mid-stretch and continued her drive to the wire to get the win. 2YO RAINHA DA BATERIA Rallies to Win Saratoga MSW Debut
A $435,000 Keeneland September 2013 purchase, RAINHA DA BATERIA closed on the outside through the stretch to capture this 5 1/2-furlong Maiden Special Weight on the turf at Saratoga by a head. Coming off a five-furlong bullet work at Fair Hill 10 days prior to her debut, the 2-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW came away last out of the gate and settled near the back early. As they rounded the turn, RAINHA DA BATERIA began to pick up the pace, moved to the far outside for the stretch drive and outran three others in a four-horse photo finish to earn the win. Bred by Helen Alexander, Helen Groves, and Dorothy Matz out of Amelia, by Dixieland Band, RAINHA DA BATERIA was the second highest priced yearling of a Keeneland September Sales session and was purchased by Borges Torrealba Holdings/TCA, agent. BROKEN VOW’s 3YO DIVINE OATH Best in American Derby-G3
DIVINE OATH drove between horses to post an impressive 1/2-length victory in the $200,000 American Derby-G3, going 1 3/16 miles over Arlington’s turf course. Claiming his first stakes victory, DIVINE OATH won at first asking over eventual Tampa Bay Derby-G2 winner Ring Weekend going 7 1/2 f. over Gulfstream’s turf. He followed that with another Gulfstream allowance victory before a runner-up finish to Belmont Derby Invitational winner Mr. Speaker in the Coolmore Lexington S-G3 at Keeneland in just his third lifetime start. Coming off a good fourth in the $500,000 Penn Mile, DIVINE OATH sat patiently as he was shuffled back, then weaved his way through traffic to catch the leader, European invader Our Channel, in the final strides. BROKEN VOW’s 3YO IRISH YOU WELL Tops Long Branch S.
Multiple Graded-placed IRISH YOU WELL became BROKEN VOW’s 61st lifetime stakes winner with his victory in the Long Branch S. A Maiden Special Weight winner by 7 1/2 lengths here June 15th, IRISH YOU WELL tracked the leader in second in the 1 1/16-mile contest. Once they reached the quarter pole, he took over the lead and opened up a bit, then held a challenger off to get the win by 1/2 length. Earlier this year, the 3-year-old colt placed in the 1 1/8-mile Peter Pan S.-G2 and $500,000 Illinois Derby-G3. SW UNHEDGED Runner-up in Woodbine’s Sweet Briar Too S.
UNHEDGED became BROKEN VOW’s 18th stakes horse of 2014 with her runner-up finish in the $100,000 Sweet Briar Too S. The 4-year-old filly showed early speed out of the gate to take the lead soon after the break going seven furlongs. She maintained a pressured lead around the turn and deep into the stretch until eventually being passed inside the 1/16th pole by a graded stakes winner but determinedly held the runner-up spot. In the race just prior to this one, UNHEDGED again had the lead in deep stretch and was only beaten two lengths in the Grade 3 Hendrie S., finished just off the board. As a juvenile, UNHEDGED won her first three starts, including a victory in the $100,000 Presque Isle Debutante S. Lifetime record: 11-3-3-0, $163,702. O-Westbury Stables LLC. In her graded stakes debut, LONESOME TOWN put in a game effort to place in the Grade 3 Eatontown S. at Monmouth Park. Racing 1 1/16 miles on the turf, the daughter of BROKEN VOW followed the pace inside, challenged the leader in the final turn and then battled the length of the stretch, finishing just a length back at the wire. One race back, LONESOME TOWN was in a photo finish, finishing just a head back in placing in the Liberty S. won by a G1 SW. On the Belmont Stakes undercard, LIFE IN SHAMBLES placed in his second consecutive stakes with a solid finish in the 1 1/16-mile Easy Goer. Breaking from the inside post in a field of nine, the 3-year-old son of BROKEN VOW set the pace to the top of the stretch and continued to run on with energy to the wire. LIFE IN SHAMBLES was coming off a narrow runner-up finish, beaten only a head, in the Sir Barton S. on the Preakness Stakes undercard. Lifetime record: 5-2-1-1, $89,890. O-Jump Sucker Stable. B-C. Graded Stakes Winner COMMANDER Wins His 12th Stakes
Two-time winner of the BC Premier’s H.-G3, COMMANDER notched his 12th lifetime stakes win taking the Spangled Jimmy H. for the third consecutive year. The veteran son of BROKEN VOW took the lead after a half and cruised home under a hand ride to win this one mile main track event at Northlands Park by 3 3/4 lengths. INTERRUPTED Wins $100,000 Penn Oaks
3YO filly INTERRUPTED, a half-sister to millionaire ALTERNATION, took the $100,000 Penn Oaks going a mile over the turf at Penn National.  Graded stakes-placed in her previous start, INTERRUPTED was full of run through the turn and continued in tight quarters along the rail to post a game victory.  Lifetime record: 4-3-0-1, $119,140. DECEIVED and HIDDEN VOW Place in Stakes at Belmont
Stakes-placed last year as a juvenile, DECEIVED earned his first black type at three placing in the $125,000 Mike Lee S. Sitting in mid-pack until midway around the turn, DECEIVED was already in high gear as he swung four wide into the stretch and finished with run in this seven-furlong event. In his first start of 2014, DECEIVED pulled away in a one mile allowance at Aqueduct to win by 8 1/4 lengths. Last year at two, he won a Maiden Special Weight in the mud at Aqueduct by 7 1/2 lengths, then placed in the Damon Runyon S. just 11 days later. Lifetime record: 8-2-2-3, $132,200. Making his first start of 2014, HIDDEN VOW became BROKEN VOW’s newest stakes horse with a strong closing kick to place in $125,000 Kingston S. Racing last for the first half on this one mile turf test, HIDDEN VOW was swung out five wide for the race to the wire and finished strongly. Last year he won a Belmont Maiden Special Weight by 1 1/4 lengths sitting just behind the pace and then seized the lead with a furlong to go. Lifetime record: 21-1-4-4, $109,846. Two New Stakes Horses for 2014
Making only her second start of the year after a one mile allowance win at Gulfstream in March, three-time stakes winner LADY COHIBA had a troubled start but still managed to place in Monmouth Beach S., giving her eight stakes win/placings in her career. The daughter of BROKEN VOW won stakes in each of her previous three years of racing, including Aqueduct’s May Night S. at two, the Summer Guest S. in 2012, and the Glens Falls S. in 2013, both at Saratoga. Setting the pace to the top of the stretch of this 1 1/16-mile turf event, the daughter of BROKEN VOW then dug in gamely through the stretch drive to the wire to a photo finish, the race eventually awarded to a G1 SW. One race back, LONESOME TOWN finished runner-up in a Keeneland allowance on the all-weather, just a head from the win. In the first session of the two-day Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale in Timonium, Maryland, a filly by BROKEN VOW was purchased for $100,000. Hip 142, out of Crystal Downs, by Alleged, was consigned by Eddie Woods, agent, and bought by Jane Buchanan, agent.

COMMANDER, a multiple GSW by BROKEN VOW, overtook the frontrunner in the stretch and was hand ridden to the wire to win the Journal H. by 1 1/4 lengths. In that same race, CLEAR THE RUNWAY, a stakes winner who has won or placed in five stakes, closed from last to place in this six-furlong stakes at Northlands Park. 3YO Stakes Horses at Pimlico and Santa Anita
On the Preakness undercard, LIFE IN SHAMBLES made his stakes debut and finished a very close runner-up in the Sir Barton S., beaten only a head. ROSALIND Wins Ashland S.-G1 in Dead Heat
Weighted third on last year’s Experimental Free Handicap for Fillies on the basis of strong performances in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies-G1, the Alcibiades S.-G1, and the Hollywood Starlet S.-G1, 3-year-old ROSALIND earned her first Grade 1 win in one of the most thrilling finishes in the history of Keeneland’s Ashland S.-G1. Ridden by Joel Rosario, ROSALIND settled behind the leaders, then made a sweeping move on the far turn to take the lead at the top of the stretch. Challenged by Room Service, the two fillies dueled throughout the stretch and hit the wire together, seven lengths in front of the rest of the field. A filly by BROKEN VOW brought a final bid of $375,000 at the combined one day Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2014 March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training. Hip 339, a February 9th foal out of the Storm Cat mare, Ranter, was consigned by Mayberry Farm, agent, and purchased by Polo Green Stable, agent. For the sale, four BROKEN VOWs were offered and four sold for an average price of $195,000. The other select juveniles are a $155,000 colt (hip 189 – o/o Ho Joy purchased by Sky Chai Racing), a $150,000 colt (hip 218 – o/o Kickin’ the Clouds purchased by Jim and Susan Hill), and a $100,000 colt (hip 341 – o/o Rcuandry purchased by Calumet Farm).

After going undefeated in her two juvenile starts last year, INTERRUPTED closed well to place in the G3 Florida Oaks in her seasonal debut.
