LIMATION Takes Maiden Special Weight on Derby Undercard

Coming off placing in a Maiden Special Weight at Oaklawn Park last out, LIMATION took command as they turned for home and kicked clear in the stretch to win this one mile Maiden Special Weight at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day. The 3-year-old colt and 22nd winner from the first crop of ALTERNATION tracked the leader in second down the backstretch. He moved up to challenge that one on the turn, took the lead at the top of the stretch and opened up a two-length lead, then held off a closer to win by a 1/2 length on a sloppy sealed track on a rainy day in Louisville. LIMATION, a $100,000 OBS April 2YO purchase by his current owner, also placed in his debut and Oaklawn in February. Lifetime record: 4-1-0-2, $59,100. O-Michael Langford. B-David & James Purvis.
