LIMATION Trounces Field in G3 Super Derby

LIMATION won for the third time in his last five starts after a dominating performance to take the $300,000 Super Derby-G3 by 5 3/4 lengths. The 3-year-old colt from the first crop of ALTERNATION broke alertly from post seven to sit in second around the first turn and down the backstretch racing 1 1/16 miles. He began to launch his bold bid heading into the second turn and to overtake the leader by the midway point. From there LIMATION then quickly opened up to be in front by six lengths in upper stretch and maintained a commanding lead to the wire. The nine-horse field included several stakes winners and Haskell Inv. S.-G1 placed Lone Sailor. A $100,000 OBS April 2YO purchase by his current owner, LIMATION won a one mile Maiden Special Weight on the Kentucky Derby undercard and also took a one mile allowance at Ellis Park. Lifetime record: 8-3-0-3, $272,950. O-Michael Langford. B-David Purvis & James Purvis. T-Steve Asmussen.
