SERENGETI EMPRESS Rules Ellis Park Debutante by 13 1/2 Lengths

An on-the-board finish in her last out in Saratoga’s G3 Schuylerville after the jockey dropped the whip, SERENGETI EMPRESS rebounded to dominate the field of the Ellis Park Debutante S. and won by a dazzling 13 1/2 lengths. The 2-year-old filly from the second crop of ALTERNATION broke alertly from the inside post to set the pace in a field of 11. She set fractions of :22 1/5, :45 1/5, and 1:09 3/5, and galloped home in a final time of 1:22 1/5, besting the time of the colts in the Juvenile S. by more than 1 1/2 seconds. It was also the fastest seven furlongs of the meet. SERENGETI EMPRESS was a debut winner by 5 1/2 lengths on July 4th at Indiana Downs.
