3YO ALTERNATIVE SLEW Rallies to Win Bob Barry Memorial in Stakes Debut

Coming off a 5 ¼-length allowance score here two weeks back on the dirt going a mile, ALTERNATIVE SLEW switched surfaces and defeated older fillies and mares to win the Bob Barry Memorial S. by ½ length. The final time for the 7 ½ furlongs on turf was only 4/5 second off Remington Park’s course record. The 3-year-old filly from the third crop of ALTERNATION settled off the pace early. She rallied on the far turn, was bumped repeatedly by the frontrunner in the stretch, but battled through for the victory in her stakes debut. A Maiden Special Weight winner in her second start as a juvenile last year, ALTERNATIVE SLEW has now won or placed in six of seven starts, and in her only other start at two, she finished on the board in her debut. Lifetime record: 7-3-2-1, $110,476. O/B-Walter M. Jones. T-Randy Oberlander.
