3YO PIOCHE GOLD Takes Maiden Special in Second Start

Making only his second career start, PIOCHE GOLD took advantage of an opening along the rail and rallied to win this six-furlong Maiden Special Weight by a neck. The 3-year-old son from the second crop of ALTERNATION raced up close early but lost ground heading into the turn. He recovered to begin his closing effort around the bend, seized the opportunity of an opening along the rail to claim the lead at the top of the stretch, and finished strongly to earn the win at Belterra Park. Lifetime record: 2-1-0-0, $10,540. O-Joyce Bell. B-Albert Bell & Joyce Bell. T-Michael Evans II.
