G1 SW ROSALIND Closes Out Year Placing in La Prevoyante H.-G3
ROSALIND has now won or placed in eight Graded events in her career after placing in the 1 1/2-mile La Prevoyante H.-G3 on the turf at Gulfstream, finishing less than two lengths off the win. The 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW raced behind the pacesetter no more than two lengths back through crawling fractions of six furlongs in 1:16 4/5 and the mile in 1:42 2/5. Once they turned for home, the earner of more than $900,000 dug in and dueled with another to the wire. According to Trakus, ROSALIND ran +72 feet farther than the winner. Earlier in the year she won Belmont’s Sheepshead Bay S.-G2 and put in a strong performance to place in the 1 1/4-mile E. P. Taylor S.-G1, finishing only 1 3/4 lengths back after setting a pressured pace from the start. Last year ROSALIND won Keeneland’s Central Bank Ashland S.-G1 in a dead heat, and at two, placed in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies-G1, Darley Alcibiades S.-G1 and the Pocahontas S.-G2. BROKEN VOW Wraps Up Another Big Year at the Sales
With the sales concluded for another calendar year, BROKEN VOW was a preferred stock in all sales categories. In March at the OBS Sale of 2YOs in Training, a colt by BROKEN VOW brought a final bid of $950,000 from trainer Linda Rice. The colt topped the day two session and was the second highest priced horse of the sale. At the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, 11 individuals sold for $100,000 or more. That included a $350,000 colt purchased by Tommy and Bonnie Hamilton’s Silverton Hill, LLC, a $220,000 colt purchased by trainer Anthony Dutrow’s Team D, a $210,000 filly that went to Barry K. Schwartz, plus yearlings that sold for $155,000, $150,000 (4), etc. And at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, broodmare Bella Jolie (by BROKEN VOW), brought $1.6 million, and weanlings went for $165,000, $145,000, etc.

3YO RAINHA DA BATERIA Rallies For Runner-up Spot in G2 Mrs. Revere
Graded stakes winner RAINHA DA BATERIA nearly ran down the leader in the stretch to finish runner-up, beaten only 1/2 length, in the Mrs. Revere S.-G2 at Churchill Downs. The 3-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW was still in 11th position after the first six furlongs of this 1 1/16-mile turf event. RAINHA DA BATERIA was five wide on the far turn, maneuvered to split horses in mid-stretch and continued to battle to the wire to make it close. Last year at two, she won Keeneland’s JPMorgan Chase Jessamine S.-G3 by 1 1/2 lengths and also was runner-up in Del Mar’s G3 Jimmy Durante S. Lifetime record: 10-2-2-1, $229,936. Daughter of BROKEN VOW Produces Breeders’ Cup Sprint-G1 Winner Runhappy
Bella Jolie, an 8-year-old mare by BROKEN VOW, is the dam of the phenomenal 3-year-old colt Runhappy who broke the track record winning the TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint-G1 by 3/4 length. Runhappy is now six for seven lifetime and has earnings of $1,301,300. His other stakes wins include the NYRA.com King’s Bishop S.-G1 and the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix S.-G3.

ROSALIND Puts in Strong Performance to Place in Grade 1 E. P. Taylor
ROSALIND set a pressured pace and nearly wired the field to place in the prestigious 1 1/4-mile E. P. Taylor S.-G1 on the turf at Woodbine. The 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW took the lead soon after the start but was never more than 1 1/2 lengths in front of her closed competitor. ROSALIND was eventually challenged in mid-stretch, turned that rival back only to be caught inside the final 1/16th, finishing 1 3/4 lengths back of the win. Early this year she won the G2 Sheepshead Bay S. and last year won Keeneland’s Central Bank Ashland S.-G1 in a dead heat. Lifetime record: 18-3-3-4, $901,979. TRISTESSE Puts in Late Charge to Win Stakes in France
TRISTESSE became BROKEN VOW’s newest stakes winner and 10th in 2015 with a strong late rally to take the 1 1/2-mile Prix Panacee at Toulouse. The 4-year-old filly was near the back of the pack as they turned for home, but swung out wide and ran down the leader with a furious charge, making up more than five lengths inside the sixteenth pole to get the win by a short head. The Wertheimer brothers homebred has won four of seven starts this year, including her first three starts to kick off the current campaign. TRISTESSE is out of Ydillique, by Sadler’s Wells, a full sister to G1 winner and sire Sligo Bay (IRE). Her second dam is a full sister to Champion Glorious Song.

BROKEN VOW is Broodmare Sire of G1 SW Runhappy
Bella Jolie, by BROKEN VOW, is the dam of RUNHAPPY, winner of the NYRA.com King’s Bishop S.-G1 at Saratoga and the recent winner of the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix S.-G3 at Keeneland on the opening day of their Fall Meet. The 3-year-old colt has now won five of six starts and earned $481,300. BROKEN VOW is also the broodmare sire of HAMPTON COURT (out of stakes-winning Roses ‘n’ Wine), winner in record time of the ATC Spring Champion S.-G1 in Australia.

$350,000 Colt at Keeneland September is One of Ten $100,000-Plus Yearlings Thus Far
At this year’s Keeneland September Sales so far, yearlings by BROKEN VOW have fetched some strong prices. Topping the list is the $350,000 colt purchased by Tommy and Bonnie Hamilton’s Silverton Hill, LLC. Hip 1503, an April 9th foal out of the Dixieland Band mare Sunny was consigned by Indian Creek, agent. Hip 796, a May 1st colt out of the Arch mare Bend that was consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent, was purchased for $220,000 by trainer Anthony Dutrow’s Team D. And hip 1140, a January 29th filly went to Barry K. Schwartz for $210,000. She is out of Wildcat Heiress, by Wildcat Heir, and was consigned to the sale by Paramount Sales, agent.

ANNULMENT Rallies to Place in Glen Hill Farm One Dreamer at Kentucky Downs
ANNULMENT, a stakes-winning 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW, placed in her third consecutive stakes finishing only 1 1/4 lengths from the win in the $150,000 Glen Hill One Dreamer S. at one mile and 70 yards on the turf. Only about four lengths off the lead, ANNULMENT went five wide on the final turn and rallied through the lane to the wire. Earlier this summer she was runner-up in the West Virginia Senate President’s Cup S. and also placed in the Indiana General Assembly Distaff S. In 2014 she won the Hatoof S. on the turf on the Arlington Million undercard. At two, ANNULMENT was a Maiden Special Weight winner at Keeneland. Lifetime record: 19-3-3-5, $182,922. O-G. Multiple GSW DIVINE OATH Runner-up in $200,000 PTHA President’s Cup S.
DIVINE OATH pushed his earnings over the half-million dollar mark with a runner-up finish in Parx’s rich PTHA President’s Cup S. The 4-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW rallied around the far turn and continued to battle to the wire going 1 1/8 miles on a yielding turf course. DIVINE OATH closed out 2014 campaign defeating elders in the W. L. McKnight H.-G3 at Gulfstream Park. The McKnight was DIVINE OATH’s third Graded stakes win in his last five starts, all at different tracks and distances last year. INTERRUPTED, a Half-Sister to ALTERNATION, Rallies to Win Lady Baltimore S.
INTERRUPTED won her second stakes taking the $150,000 Lady Baltimore S by 1 1/4 lengths. The 4-year-old half-sister to multiple GSW/Millionaire ALTERNATION by BROKEN VOW raced close up to the pace early going 1 1/16 miles on a yielding turf course at Laurel Park. Blocked behind the leaders as they turned for home, INTERRUPTED swung out for the drive home and ran down the leaders in the final furlong to get the win. The Pin Oak Stud homebred placed in the G3 Florida Oaks in her third career start last year, then won the Penn Oaks S. in her very next start. Lifetime record: 9-5-0-2, $250,205. O/B-Pin Oak Stud. OUTSIDE NASHVILLE Earns His Fourth Stakes Victory
Runner-up in the Grade 3 All American S. in May, OUTSIDE NASHVILLE rallied through the stretch to win the Joseph T. Grace H. by 1 1/2 lengths. Sitting off the pace but never more than 2 1/2 lengths off the leaders in this 1 1/16-mile turf event at Santa Rosa, the son of BROKEN VOW began to move up on the far turn. He was three wide on the turn, moved out farther for running room as the raced into the lane and steadily closed down on the frontrunners to win going away. Time final time of 1:41 3/5 was only a second off the course record. OUTSIDE NASHVILLE has won stakes on both turf and all-weather surfaces from six furlongs to 1 1/16 miles, including the Golden Nugget S. as a juvenile. Lifetime record: 23-6-3-4, $269,430. ROYAL RENEGE Rallies to Win Lyphard S.
Making only her second stakes start, ROYAL RENEGE closed from midpack to take the 1 1/16-mile Lyphard S. by a length. Racing on the turf course at Penn National, the daughter of BROKEN VOW raced along the inside until they reached the top of the stretch, then swung out and continued her rallying effort to the wire to get the win. She becomes her sire’s 131 stakes horse and 67th lifetime stakes winner. ROYAL RENEGE won a Maiden Special Weight in her second career start going five furlongs on Pimlico’s turf, and also won a 5 1/2-furlong turf allowance at Laurel. Lifetime record: 14-3-4-1, $143,710. MORNING CALM Pulls Away to Win Gulfstream’s Raymond Earl
A winner here last out in April, MORNING CALM became BROKEN VOW’s 66th lifetime stakes winner with his 3 1/2-length victory in the Raymond Earl H. Racing 1 1/2 miles on the Gulfstream turf, the 4-year-old colt sat back for the first mile, then moved up to gain the lead at the top of the stretch and gradually drew away. MORNING CALM won his only start at two taking a 7 1/2-furlong Maiden Special Weight here on the turf. He also won a turf allowance last year at Saratoga. Lifetime record: 13-4-2-0, $167,140. Multiple SW OUTSIDE NASHVILLE Rallies For Runner-up Spot in G3 All American
Three-time stakes winner OUTSIDE NASHVILLE closed from last to finish runner-up, beaten a little over a length, in the one mile All American H.-G3 on Golden Gate’s all-weather surface. The final time of the race was just a 1/5 second off the track record. The son of BROKEN VOW had finished on the board at Santa Anita in his last two starts, the San Carlos S.-G2 going seven furlongs on the main track and the G3 San Simeon S. on the downhill turf course. BROKEN VOW’s ROSALIND Game Winner of the Sheepshead Bay-G2
Grade 1 winner ROSALIND won her second Graded race taking Belmont’s Sheepshead Bay S.-G2 by 1 1/4 lengths. The 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW sat close up only two lengths off the lead for the first mile of this 1 3/8-mile inner turf event. With about three furlongs to run, ROSALIND began her rally three wide on the final turn. From that point on she battled her way to the wire pulling away in the final sixteenth to earn the win. She started the year off with a runner-up finish in the Suwannee River S.-G3 and last year, won Keeneland’s Central Bank Ashland S.-G1 in a dead heat. ROSALIND also placed in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies-G1, Darley Alcibiades S.-G1 and Pocahontas S.-G2. ROCK ME MAMA Becomes Newest Stakes Horse at Aqueduct
ROCK ME MAMA closed from off the pace to finish runner-up in the 1 1/16-mile Karakorum Elektra S. at Aqueduct in only her second stakes outing. The 4-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW was nearly nine lengths in front of the third place finisher. $950,000 BROKEN VOW 2YO at OBS March Sale
At this year’s OBS March Sale of 2YOs in Training, a colt by BROKEN VOW brought a final bid of $950,000 from trainer Linda Rice. The colt topped Day 2 Session and was the second highest priced horse of the sale. Hip 481, a February 4th foal bred by Diane Connell out of the stakes-placed Tale of the Cat mare, Tale of the South, worked a fast :9 4/5 for a furlong at the Under-Tack session, the second fastest time at the distance.

BROKEN GAME Becomes Stakes Winner #65
BROKEN GAME became BROKEN VOW’s 65th lifetime stakes winner with her win in the Pr. Felipe Pardo y Barreda S. at Hipodromo de Monterrico, in Peru. The Southern Hemisphere 3-year-old filly pressed the pace on the outside from the start in this 1 1/4-mile dirt race. She took the lead at the top of the stretch, turned back a challenger on the outside and drove to the wire to get a two-length victory against older horses. This was BROKEN GAME’s sixth win in eight starts, which also includes a runner-up finish in which she was less the a length back of the win. At 2, she won her debut by 8 1/4 lengths. Out of the Montjeu mare, Game (Fr), BROKEN GAME was purchased out of the Keeneland September sale by her current owners. Lifetime record: 8-6-1-0, $16,120. O-Stud 900. B- Sean Fitzhenry. 3YO PEPPER ROANI Closes for Runner-up Spot in John Battaglia Memorial
Coming out of a Maiden Special Weight score here on the last day of January, PEPPER ROANI rallied in a 10-horse field to be runner-up in the $125,000 John Battaglia Memorial S. at Turfway Park. After encountering trouble going into the first turn, the the 3-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW was in eighth place after the first half going 1 1/16 miles on the all-weather surface. Fanned five wide in the far turn, PEPPER ROANI rallied down the stretch to finish nearly 13 lengths in front of the the third-place horse. In his one mile Maiden Special Weight score, the $155,000 OBS 2014 March Select Sale grad out of the Silver Ghost mare, Ho Joy, took the lead in mid-stretch and pulled away to win by 3 1/2 lengths. BROKEN VOW 2YO Brings $220,000 at Barretts Select
At the one-day Barretts Select 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, a filly by BROKEN VOW brought a final bid of $220,000 from Narvick International. Hip 62, a February 13th foal out of the Danzig mare Penny Arcade, was the third highest priced filly in the sale and was bred in Kentucky by Lynn B. Schiff. The filly is a half-sister to the dam of Lady Cohiba, a multiple Saratoga stakes winner of over $331,000 by BROKEN VOW.

GOOD DEED Rallies for Runner-up Finish in Gulfstream’s Ladies Turf Sprint
Bumped repeatedly at the break, GOOD DEED closed from next to last to earn the runner-up spot, just a 1/2 length back of the win, in the five-furlong Ladies Turf Sprint S. at Gulfstream Park. After breaking from post three and encountering the early trouble, the daughter of BROKEN VOW raced unhurried early until the turn. She began her rally on the outside and continued to close on leaders willingly through the stretch to the wire. GOOD DEED kicked off the year with a impressive 2 1/2-length win in the Fair Grounds’ Pan Zareta S. in which she set all the fractions. In her last race of 2014, she set a Fair Grounds course record for about 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf. A five time stakes winner on dirt and turf, GOOD DEED was also runner-up in Churchill’s Eight Belles S.-G3. Lifetime record: 17-9-3-1, $376,753. O-Richard and Bertram Klein. GOOD DEED Leads the Way in Pan Zareta S.
Coming out of a course record performance here in December, GOOD DEED set all the fractions in the Pan Zareta S. and was ridden out to an impressive 2 1/2-length win. Racing at about 5 1/2 furlongs on the Fair Grounds turf, the daughter of BROKEN VOW reeled off internal fractions of :22, :45 1/5, and :56 3/5 before crossing the line in 1:02 4/5. The final time was about 1/2 second off her course record-setting performance where she drew off by 5 1/4 lengths on December 14. GOOD DEED now has four wins and a runner-up finish in five starts on the grass. A stakes winner on dirt and turf, this was her fifth career stakes victory and she also was runner-up in Churchill’s Eight Belles S.-G3. Lifetime record: 16-9-2-1, $362,803. RAINHA DA BATERIA Has Eventful Trip in Blue Norther S. Placing
Coming off a narrow runner-up finish in Del Mar’s Jimmy Durante S.-G3 last time out, GSW RAINHA DA BATERIA experienced traffic problems throughout but still managed to place in Santa Anita’s Blue Norther S. The 3-year-old filly by BROKEN VOW raced last in a field of 10 going a mile on the turf for the first six furlongs. As she was moving up on the inside she had to steady off heels midway on the far turn. RAINHA DA BATERIA was then again caught behind horses in the stretch before spitting foes late and charging strongly to the wire, finishing only two lengths off the win. In October, RAINHA DA BATERIA won Keeneland’s JPMorgan Chase Jessamine S.-G3 by 1 1/2 lengths and was also a debut winner at Saratoga in July. Lifetime record: 6-2-1-1, $184,160.
