TONE BROKE Places in the Classic Queen’s Plate S.

Making his first start on the all-weather surface, TONE BROKE put in a game effort to place in the $1,000,000 Queen’s Plate S. at Woodbine. The 3-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW was coming off a runner-up finish in the 1 1/16-mile Sir Barton S. on the Preakness undercard. Breaking from post position 11 in this 14-horse field, TONE BROKE broke inward at the start but steadied himself to be close up to the early pace. He traveled three wide on both turns and was well clear in third position racing down the backstretch only a couple lengths off the lead. He continued to pursue the frontrunners who had set modest fractions and put in a sustained run to the wire. TONE BROKE broke his maiden at two by more than 15 lengths and finished just three lengths back in fourth to Rebel S.-G2 winner Long Range Toddy in the $400,000 Remington Springboard Mile S., his last start as a juvenile. Lifetime record: 9-2-1-1, $164,808. O-L and N Racing LLC. B-Sean Fitzhenry. T-Steve Asmussen.
