TONE BROKE Takes Two of Three Canadian Classics With Breeders’ S. Victory

Coming off a two-length win in the Prince of Wales S. (pictured), the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, TONE BROKE captured the final leg with a late charge down the stretch to win the Breeders’ S. by 1 1/2 lengths. Making his turf debut in this 1 1/2-mile contest, the 3-year-old colt by BROKEN VOW made an awkward start but Rafael Hernandez got him steadied and he sat in a stalking position no more than two lengths off the lead. In behind horses turning for home, TONE BROKE swung out four wide, found his best gear and ran by the front two to secure the victory. He also placed in in the first leg of the series, the Queen’s Plate S., after a troubled beginning in a field of 14. Lifetime record: 11-4-1-1, $528,600. O-L and N Racing LLC. B-Sean Fitzhenry.
