Two New Graded Stakes Horses for BROKEN VOW

LIFE IN SHAMBLES pushed his career totals over the $500,000 mark and earned his first Graded blacktype with a closing finish to place in the six-furlong Fall Highweight H.-G3. He was coming off a 2 1/2-length win at Belmont last month. The son of BROKEN VOW only finished two lengths back of the winner, $1.6 million earner Stallwalkin’ Dude. Earlier in the year, LIFE IN SHAMBLES was runner-up in the Donald LeVine Memorial at Parx and also had an on-the-board finish in this year’s G3 Toboggan S., finishing just a length off the win. Lifetime record: 33-8-6-3, $513,884. O-Paradise Farms Corp. B-Christophe Clement and Don Robinson. T-Steve Asmussen.

FUTILE earned the first blacktype of his career and did it with a runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Hawthorne Gold Cup H. Coming off wins at Churchill and Keeneland in his last two starts, the 4-year-old son of BROKEN VOW stalked the pacesetter in second in this 1 1/4-mile race until the top of the stretch. FUTILE overtook that one in midstrech to claim the lead but got caught in deep stretch by a late closer to finish just 1/2-length back of the win. Lifetime record: 13-6-1-1, $156,120.
