Supersized Effort from King Size

King Size made a winning switch to the grass on Thursday afternoon at Delaware Park, capturing a 7 ½-furlong maiden special weight in front-running fashion. Sent off as the 2-1 favorite, the Twirling Candy colt was quick to take command into the first turn and never looked back, stopping the clock in 1:27.97—just one-fifth of a second shy of the course record.

Though briefly challenged at the top of the stretch, King Size dug back in to turn away Toro Jr. (Slumber {GB}) and prevail by a neck at the wire.

Bred by Alice Bamford & Highfield Investment Group Inc., King Size hails from a deep female family that includes stakes winner Fame and Power (First Defence). His dam, Hiking, has also produced a 2-year-old filly in training named Radiant View (Caravaggio), and a yearling colt by War of Will. She foaled a Twirling Candy filly this spring and has been bred back to that sire for 2025.
