Weekend Racing Recap: Phantom Speed Steals the Spotlight

We had three runners last week, topped by Phantom Speed’s trip to the winner’s circle!

Phantom Speed (3YO, c, Arrogate – Ghostslayer) won a 6.5-furlong maiden special weight at Timonium on Friday! This was his first start in 2024 and he won by an easier-than-it-looked half-length. As a 2-year-old, he made two starts at Fair Grounds and finished 2nd on debut and 3rd in his next start. Trainer: Mike Stidham. Jockey: Julio Hernandez.

Megalodon (2YO, c, Medaglia d’Oro – Student Body) made his second career start on Sunday at Woodbine and just got beat by a head at the wire. So close! This was a 6.5-furlong maiden special weight on the all-weather surface. Trainer: Josie Carroll. Jockey: Sofia Vives.

Swiftlet (2YO, c, McKinzie – Soarwiththebirds) had a very educational debut on Thursday at Delaware in a 1-mile turf maiden special weight. He broke from the inside gate in a full field, came very wide around the turn, and was closing fast to finish 5th by 4 lengths. He galloped out strongly and he should progress well off that debut. Trainer: Mike Stidham. Jockey: Carol Cedeno.
