Juris Doctor, a 3-year-old colt by Constitution out of Romanticism, earned a well-deserved maiden victory at Laurel Park on October 18, drawing clear to win by 2 ½ lengths.
After narrow defeats in his two prior turf starts, Juris Doctor put it all together on Saturday. Breaking sharply from the inside, he settled comfortably in third along the rail before tipping out to challenge nearing the quarter pole. Despite briefly lugging in at the top of the stretch, the colt straightened out and powered home with good energy to secure the victory in 1:50.34 for 1 1/8 miles on firm turf.
Trained by Michael Stidham, Juris Doctor is out of Romanticism, a daughter of multiple Grade I winner Sightseek. He is a half-brother to Graded stakes winner Imaginationthelady (Not This Time, $331,400) and stakes-placed Benissimo (Pioneerof the Nile).
