Steeze, a 3-year-old colt by Vekoma out of Stylish Ways (Empire Maker), was a commanding victor in a $43,000 maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park on Friday. This win gave his trainer, Riley Mott, his 100th win since opening his stable in November 2022.

Breaking from the #6 gate, jockey Junior Alvarado gave Steeze the perfect trip. They tracked a stalking trip before taking command around the far turn and pulling away to win by 5 1/2 lengths.

The win marks a strong return to the races for Steeze, who finished second at Horseshoe Indianapolis on June 26 and third in his turf debut at Colonial last July 31.

Bred by Springhouse Farm, Fox Straus KY & Golden Acorn Equine, Steeze was purchased at Keeneland September for $250,000 from Paramount Sales. Steeze is a half-brother to GSP Wayward Kitten, an earner of $168,224.
