Albus delivered a magical performance in his 3-year-old debut, casting a spell over his rivals with a dominant 6 3/4-length victory in a one-mile maiden special weight at Tampa Bay Downs.

The son of Yaupon showed plenty of poise early, saving ground into the first turn before tracking the leader from just off the pace along the backstretch. Jockey Samy Camacho gave the colt his cue with a tap of the wand approaching the far turn, and Albus instantly conjured up a powerful move to seize command.

From there, the bay colt put the race under his spell. Traveling strongly down the lane, Albus opened up with every stride and cruised home to don the winner’s robes by nearly seven lengths in a dazzling display.

Bred in Kentucky by Susan Casner, Albus is out of Adream and hails from a deep black-type family. He is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Song of Spring, who earned more than $234,000 on the racetrack.

His dam, Adream, is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Dream Rush, the dam of 2022 Broodmare of the Year Dreaming of Julia. Adream was bred this season to Liam’s Map, adding another exciting chapter to an already accomplished pedigree.
