Induction Becomes Scalding’s First Winner

Pin Oak Stud homebred INDUCTION made his debut a memorable one on August 9 at Colonial Downs, winning a $73,700 maiden special weight by two lengths over the turf.

The victory marked several exciting milestones for Pin Oak Stud. Induction was our first 2-year-old starter of 2026, the first Pin Oak runner by our private stallion Scalding, and a homebred raised from birth at the farm. With his victory, he also became Scalding’s first winner as a freshman sire.

Trained by H. Graham Motion and ridden by Jorge Ruiz, Induction was sent off at 9-2 for the one-mile turf race. He settled in fifth as Yalta established fractions of :24.29 and :49.42 before beginning to advance around the far turn. Rallying four wide into the stretch, Induction took command and pulled away to win by 2 lengths in 1:37.45.

Induction is the first foal to race for his dam, Right to Freedom, a daughter of Constitution from the family of GI Kentucky Oaks winner Summerly. The family has continued to produce stakes performers, including Kentucky Reign and Brazilian Group-placed Allez Marie. Allez Marie has since produced five stakes horses, most recently GIII Monmouth Oaks winner Running Away.

Right to Freedom also has a yearling full-sister to Induction and a 2026 colt by Street Sense, giving Pin Oak plenty more to look forward to from this promising family.

For Pin Oak, Induction’s debut represents more than just a winner in the record book. He is the product of the farm’s commitment to breeding, raising, and developing our own horses–and he was our first opportunity to see Scalding’s next generation take their first steps onto the racetrack.

We couldn’t be prouder to see Induction carry the Pin Oak colors and make history for his homebred sire on his very first start.
